Eddie Ryan is a legendary name in the UK custom scene, renowned for hand-crafting kits for world-class artists including Paul McCartney, Pick Withers (Dire Straits), and jazz icon Louis Bellson. Known for his meticulous bearing edge work and "split-shell" innovations, an Eddie Ryan kit represents the pinnacle of 1970s/80s bespoke craftsmanship.
This hybrid shell pack offers a unique "best of both worlds" sonic profile. The bass drum and floor tom feature classic 3-ply shells with reinforcement rings. These provide the warm, musical "thump" associated with high-end vintage Premier builds of the 60s and 70s.
The rack toms are constructed from thicker multi-ply shells (likely African Mahogany) with dark interiors and no reinforcement rings. This creates a focused, darker tone with significantly more projection and "fatness" than standard vintage shells.
Configured as concert toms, this kit delivers a punchy, direct attack with a fast decay—the quintessential studio sound of the late 70s.
Condition:
This kit is in very good condition for it's age showing some light cosmetic marks from general use. The chrome hardware shows minor age-related wear but is clean overall. All mounts and fittings are fully functional and the drums tune up smoothly.

8" Tom - fitted with a Remo Controlled Sound Clear head
10"/12"/16" Toms - fitted with Remo Renaissance Textured heads.
18" bass drum - fitted with Remo Ambassador Fiberskyn heads on both the batter and resonant sides.
Generally the heads are in very good condition showing signs of use but with life left in them. The bass drum heads especially are in excellent condition. The 6"/8" toms are showing a bit more wear and the rest of the toms show stick marks but are tidy.
