Here’s something truly special, the iconic 75th Anniversary Ludwig “Eagle” kit, made in Chicago, USA in 1984. These were Ludwig’s flagship drums of the era, built to celebrate 75 years of drum-making excellence. With only a handful ever brought into the UK (reportedly as few as five), it’s an incredibly rare piece of Ludwig history — and easily one of the most striking kits they’ve ever made.
Each shell features a natural maple finish with stunning walnut inlaid eagle silhouettes, complemented by the reissued blue Keystone badge that marked Ludwig’s return to its classic design language. The 9-ply maple shells deliver that unmistakable Ludwig tone — open, warm and powerful — equally at home in the studio or on stage.
This kit looks phenomenal under lights and photographs beautifully a true collector’s kit that also absolutely sings when played.
Condition:
This kit is in great condition overall but it does have some age-related wear and a few non-original parts worth noting:

Rack tom mounts have been replaced with Premier brackets.

Bass drum mount has four small extra drill holes nearby. I assume the previous owner changed the mount and then reverted back to the original.

The finish shows light lacquer checking throughout — these aren’t immediately obvious but can be seen on close inspection.

On one tom, the wrap shows some slight warping/glue ripple near a seam (see photos).

Chrome hardware shows very light pitting and ageing in spots but remains fully functional.
- The rubber foot is perishing on one of the floor tom legs.
All shells are structurally solid, the edges are clean, and it tunes up beautifully. The kit retains all its character and originality where it counts — a genuine vintage treasure that’s become incredibly hard to find in any condition.

Drum Heads:
This kit is fitted with Remo Clear Pinstripes on all the batter heads which are all in good condition, showing use but still with life left in them.
The 12" & 16" toms have clear resonant heads fitted and the 13" has a clear Ludwig Rockers head fitted.
